Team Update - #July #August
Challenge Roth
This year Owen Barden and Ian Roche were lucky enough to take on the truly epic triathlon spectacular that is Challenge Roth. Owen executed his race perfectly with a superb 05:19 bike split and 03:47 run earning him a super 10:40:35 finish and a 13 minute PB over the course.
After 7 years of trying to get in, Ian thoroughly enjoyed his Roth experience. He enjoyed the swim so much he managed to make it longer than required! After weeks of discussing nutrition, the bike didn’t exactly go to plan with Ian struggling to take on fuel. Resilient as ever, Ian focused on his objectives and managed to complete the 112 mile bike course and marathon, fueled on nothing more than a few pieces of a banana, finishing in a super 13:45.. a Long Distance PB!
Outlaw Half - Holkham
Meanwhile in Norfolk.. Alex Ward took on Outlaw Half Holkham Middle Distance. Racing for Total Tri Training, Alex started in the Elite wave for the first time. A solid race overall saw him finish in 4:32:04, a superb 26th overall in a stacked field on a day when the course record was smashed.
Cadair X
In Snowdonia, Dani took on the inaugural Cadair X Half Marathon. Organised by WeSwimRunUK the race is billed ‘as one of the toughest half marathons in the UK, and probably the most awe inspiring’. Competitors took on a challenging route which included ancient woodland, glacial lakes, historic trails, and mountainous terrain, including the summit Cadair Idris (893m). Dani finished a superb 13th in 2:35:13
Outlaw Triathlon
After a week of discussing cooling tactics ahead of race weekend, Outlaw Triathlon was hit with an enormous rain storm. With the bike course and transition flooded during a biblical downpour while the athletes were taking on the 3.8km swim, the event organiser had no choice but to cancel the 180km bike leg, informing athletes as they exited the water. Paul showed a great attitude and mental strength to go out and smash the marathon, knocking 12mins of his PB, finishing 52nd overall.
Salford Sprint
Rounding of the month, Dan Hardbidge took another podium at Salford Sprint Triathlon, winning his age group in the process.
Allerthorpe Tri
In Costa Del Yorkshire, Dan Harbdige and Dean took on Free Bird Events Allerthorpe Olympic Distance Triathlon. Dan took a superb 2nd overall and won his Age Group, while Dean finished an impressive 6th overall and took 2nd In Age Group in a PB.
Velocity Man Middle Distance
Patrick Breen took on his 2nd Middle Distance race, this time at Velocity Man in Buncrana. With the swim cancelled due to wind and rain, Paddy completed the challenging bike and run in 4:49. Next stop… Ironman UK 2020!
Sale Aquathlon
After 3 years of trying, Dan Hardidge finally got his first win at the popular Manchester Triathlon Club summer Aquathlon series. He took the win in 29:44, backing up a great swim with a storming 17:23 5km run.
Wirral Triathlon
The sold out Epic Events Wirral Triathlon was blessed with good weather and a stella field. Alex Ward took a superb 5th place, behind 2 Kona qualifiers nonetheless. Paul Williams was also in action finishing 32nd with a 5km run PB off the bike.
Well done to everyone for their superb achievements throughout the summer.
